The St. Joseph’s College Board of Trustees has elected alumnus Steve Somers ’82 as its newest member. Somers was inaugurated to his new post last fall, along with other recent additions Alberta D’Afflisio Aldinger ’70 and Michael E. Ryan.
“The College is delighted to welcome the newest installment of three very distinguished individuals to join its leadership,” said SJC President S. Elizabeth Hill, C.S.J., J.D. “Each of our new trustees bring a unique perspective to their position as board members and we look forward to the guidance and expertise that they will provide us in the future.”
Somers is the owner and president of Vigon International Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-quality flavor and fragrance ingredients, including essential oils, oleoresins, botanical extracts and natural and synthetic aroma extracts. Founded in 1988, the company was purchased by Somers 10 years later and has since grown exponentially in both employee and facility size. One of Lehigh Valley’s fastest growing companies, Vigon International was named one of the “Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania” in 2013.
